Just Pass Me By

Don’t honk, don’t cut me off, just pass me by!

Otis and the Baby

Tonight I had a friend come over. She has a baby that is 2 1/2 months old, I believe. Otis has never been around babies as far as I know. I have always worried about how Otis would respond to a baby. Would he be careful and gentle like he is with my smaller pets I have had, or would he be jealous and try to lay on the baby. Never can tell with cats.

I have a blanket that I don’t use to often, my older sister gave it to me and it has the L-rd’s prayer on it. I don’t like laying it out because I do not want Otis to attack the fringes on the blanket, and it is looks like it is netted or something. My blanket is blue and white, it more of a throw blanket to go over a chair or the coach. I figure it be one of my softer blankets for the baby and it was probably one of the most clean ones, with no cat hair on it.

My friend laid the Baby down on the floor for a few minutes, and Otis was very good.. He smelled the little one then laid on the top of the blanket and just watch the little one. I was very proud of Otis, he just smelled her head and her little hand and then laid by her but not to close to her. To be honest in the back of my mind I was thinking about when Craig and I have a baby how worried do I need to be about Otis. I am not saying I will not be worried and not take caution with the cat, but I know I should be able to keep Otis after having a baby.

As a pet owner I do not think it would be right for me to just give Otis away after making a commitment to keep him and care for him. It is funny sometimes when I am talking about Otis I have to clarify that he is actually a cat and not a kid. Anyways who would name their kid Otis.. The only thing I had to get after Otis for was after the baby was moved playing with my blanket and scrunching it up. I was proud of him tonight.
