Just Pass Me By

Don’t honk, don’t cut me off, just pass me by!

We must forget how to drive

In Minnesota it is winter, we had our first real snow. It is staying around for a while now. Today dad was outside having his smoke, because I don’t let anyone smoke in my apartment. I am highly allergic to smoke, so for health reason dad needs to smoke outside. Maybe he will stop smoking because it will get to cold to smoke outside.

I am wondering if it is forgetting to drive in the winter or simply just being careless drives. Yesterday dad and I had to make a emergency run to the store, it wasn’t a thing where we could have waited to go. I was driving in the parking lot going maybe 8 miles a hr. Which is slow enough here, this truck came blazing through almost hitting the front of the van, I slammed on the break and prevented anything from happening, didn’t even both turning on his signal when there are 2 ways he could have went. Then on the way out of the driveway, to the street a car decided to make that turn a little to fast and took up way more then their share of road. I noticed them turn and was able to react in time. This is why I am cautious because if I am not I will be sorry.

Today dad was out on the balcony, and this dumb driver was driving clearly to fast for snow and icy condition. He hit his break and went spinning around. Luckly the person didn’t hit anything, like someone park car, I know I would have been livid if they hit my van.  Dad came in and told me what had happened, my first question was did he hit anything. Dad said no I was happy.

Remember people who live in the Midwest where we get plenty of snow and ice during the winter, slow down, take your time. Do not worry about getting some where fast because it probably not going to happen. Keep a blanket and survival kit in the car just in case you break down on the side of the road. Leave earlier than you normally do to get to work on time if it has snowed over night because the roads may not have been plowed. Speaking of Plows remember they may not see you so if you must pass them do it carefully.

If you have to stop remember slaming on the breaks in the winter can cause you to lose control of your car. So lets remember our good driving skills the ones we should have learned every other winter that we have driven. If you do not know how to drive in the Snow and Ice stay off the roads, don’t become someone else headache. Remember don’t get distracted by your cell phone or texting your friends they can wait until your safely to where ever you are going.

I must have a target painted on

People are so impatient. This morning, I lift for work I was running late but wasn’t spending. I figure if I am late I am late, it’s better to not get a ticket so I try not to drive to fast. Plus in my area soon there will be deers out and about along the way. I started off to work, and had 2 people cut me off and lift me no time for stopping. Thank goodness they didn’t hit their breaks or no animals ran out in front of us.
I made it to work on one piece. I got to work and I kind of wish I would have not gotten out of bed today. It was far more nicer, resting and sleeping then having to deal with everything. They boxed me in to my work station and I now have a bruise on my leg with no protection. Maybe I need to start using bubble wrap as mybody jewelry, I would never be bruised but boy could you just imagine all the noise I would make. I almost tripped over another box just what I would need another problem.
One nice thing happened today I got a gift certificate to Dairy Queen, and meet one of the ladies I been speaking with a lot on the phone from my company.
I lift early and decided it be good to go over to Lunds, I needed to grab something for dinner that I forgot yesterday. I got up to my cross street for Lunds, and decided I would go to the next intersection. The light was clearly yellow, and soon to change over to red. It changed to red by the time I got to the intersection, but I had to run a clearly red light. The person behind me was going way to fast in their nice little brand new car. Had I stop she would have hit me, so I floored it and prayed no one would rush through the light she followed me right through that red light and stayed on my tail. How nice, I must have a target painted on my van. I got to my next street and she almost hit me, again.
I went into the store, kind of annoyed with the feeling of having a target painted on. I got out of the store and then this guy decided while I was still in the space he had to occupy the same space. I barely missed him hitting me. It seems that I have to be a very defensive driver, or I might have to many problems. I am a good drive and can’t count how many accident I have avoided, guess what man who thought he needed my space, it would have still been there in 10 seconds.

Get out of the intersection

On Friday, I had to go to my mechanic house and do some work for him. Not a problem at all, I first dropped my husband off at his job. His car is still broke down, so I figured it be nice to take him to work and then go on my way. Well I was going up to work and there’s this one intersection is horrible between my husband work and my mechanic house.
I got to that intersection. Normally I am used to setting through at least a half of light. On Friday, I sat through several lights, because some RV’s decided they had to stop right in the middle of the intersection which means no one would go anywhere I either side of the street. By the 3rd light of setting through and waiting when I was the first car at the intersection I was starting to become annoyed. We all know my husband mom has cancer so I am probably one step away from road rage. I tried to think about my home office, and some things I need in it. I was wishing I had a copier so I could make a few copies of things I needed for school.
Well, finally I got tired of thinking of my office and started feeling annoyed that I had to sit at the light. So I pretty much said so loud, Come on Get out of the Intersection, so others can get through. The guy parked next to me, said, they all want to do the short cut it. We talked for a few minutes, well maybe one of them heard mine and his little conversation because that was the last green light we had to sit through. it took me close to a half hour from my husband work to my mechanics which is normally a 5 to 10 minute ride. Just lovely, I wish people would learn if they are in a RV they aught to wait on the other side of the road and not block the intersection of a major street. If it’s not illegal to park in a busy intersection then it should be unless the car is broke down. I am reasonable something a drive can’t help but when your in control of your vehicle then there’s probably no need for you to be in the middle of the intersection.

Get out of the Road

I got off early today again. My plan was after work I would run over to Wal-mart, I need a Seat cover, I should have gotten 2 not one but I put it on the site that needed it the most. Tomorrow on my way to pick up hubby I guess I need to go back oh well. When I lift work, it looked like we had a storm moving in. My city is known to flood a lot, it seems pretty hilly and the drainage doesn’t seem good.
I got to Wal-Mart right about the time the storm moved in. So I ran in and decided I would stay for a little while because the color of the Sky made me think not good for driving. Goodness I spent more money then I wanted to, because I was walking around looking for things. Almost spent way to much.
I was right, there was plenty of tree derbies in the roads when I came home. I was driving down one of the side streets because hwy 494 during storms and rain isn’t a pleasant road even if it’s during lunch hour. I took the frontage road I guess would be the best thing to call the road. I got to a place where I had to make a turn or go throw a puddle that was up to the top of the tire on a larger trucker. I have a van, but I am not going to go and drive through a puddle that looks like it could easily stall my van out. I went through one of the car dealer lot, they didn’t mind but everyone was doing it to. On a side note, don’t just follow the leader they might lead you into a dead end. I had a older couple follow me right into a dead end. I should learn how to read that sign, “Dead End” it means you can’t go anywhere but turn around and go back to the next turn. I finally got back on to the road I needed and then go to my turn for another road which leads to my street.
Alright people, don’t bend over and put your head into traffic let the city worker clean out the drain they have cones and clothes to be seen with. A lady decided she had to be in the road cleaning out the drain of the small limb pieces from trees and flowers. The truck before me was hugging the left side of the lane and so was I. After he passed the woman I saw her with her head going further out into the street. Good thing no one missed her, but she not the most unwise person out during this weather.
While driving to Wal-Mart I had a kid decide it was wise to run into a 4 lane road, with traffic coming at him with full speed. No cross walk no nothing just ran across the road. I wounder if children’s life insurance covers kids who run into incoming traffic, when it’s clear that traffic is going, and no crosswalk.

Use the Sidewalk

I leave in the morning at about 645, it doesn’t take me long to get to work and normally I am there a little before 7am. The weather is nice lately, so many people are biking to work or where ever. I was on the final turn on the road. It’s a good thing I pay attention better then most. There was this biker and large truck talking and biker was crouching down on the left side of his bike on the left side of the truck, so he was very much in the middle of the road. I had to use the other side of the road to get by him.
So it seems like bicyclist need a reminder of where to fix their chain, tires or hold a conversation with someone. First the middle of the Road is not a good place for this. If your chain falls of get onto the sidewalk, and fix it there, this way no one could miss ya and run you over. So you want to talk to someone else in a vehicle gets out of the road on the other side of the truck or car between the road and curb not between the truck and center line.
There are many careless drivers out there, it’s me, me, me, when it comes to them. The last thing I want to do is drive up to a accident because someone didn’t see a bicyclist in the middle of the road at a complete stand still.
I am not sure why, I see so many with out Helmets. They are important heaven forbid but if you where to fall and hit your head, your better off with a Helmet on then with your skull which can be smashed in. Sorry, but I have seen one to many accident which involved bikes. If your riding in traffic don’t expect other to watch out for you because they probably won’t watch out for them and your self.
If your riding on the Road the same laws apply to you as to us in cars. Signal your turns and what your planning because people can not read minds, so don’t just dart in front of a car to make a left or right turn.
You know what I think would be great on Bikes GPS this way you can always find where your going.

Don’t drive while tired

I did not sleep well last night, I tried but just couldn’t seem to get into a good sleep. I woke up just as tired, as when I went to bed last night. Otis over night got sick a couple of times, poor kitty. I still haven’t been able to figure out, why he has to puke in two places and not just one. Last night he decided he had to do it in my pail of dirty clothes. Just great, I cleaned up his miss and then try to get back to sleep.
It took me forever to finally fall asleep last night so the last thing I need was kitty waking me up to clean up his mess oh well I love him.
I should probably speak to management about batteries being lift in our parking lot. I almost hit one this morning, good thing I saw it . This morning on my way to work was interesting. When I started out my drive to work, I almost jump the stupid curb. Instead of reverse I had it in drive, gee maybe no one will miss the tree. Just kidding I didn’t hit anything but the curb.
It is light out at 630 in the morning but sometimes it good to have maxim lighting.
I finally got to the road for my work, and instead of hitting the break, you guessed it I hit the stupid gas peddle, boy my brain was very confused today at least it functioned at work and things there went better then my drive in. Good thing no one tried to cut me off or something stupid.

Wasn’t to bad

Today I finally decided it was time for me to fill up my van. Not a fun thing but I didn’t spend as much money as I thought I would need to or my husband. I put 23.00 in and my husband put a other 23.00 so that was just 46.00 bucks normally my gas will last me 2 weeks if I only drive it to where I work, still a lot more then what I want to put in my tank.
I have been put on a assignment where I have worked before, I lift Friday early thinking I would fill up the tank on my way home but then after I started toward home I saw the gas price at the nearest gas station and decided not to run to the one hubby and I sometimes use because I didn’t want to run late.
I take the bus to meet him before services on Friday night and we go out and have dinner together.
Today we where talking about my van troubles, and how my muffler after my 3rd paycheck will need to be fixed first. It got some issues that is getting worst and making driving the van sometimes challenging the new thing is for some reason it just simply loud. I have to get work done on the front end. To bad the can can’t be like dell memory simple to put into the right place. Nice thing about memory chips in computers if you now what your doing it a pretty simple thing to do. I wish I had a garage and all the right tools to fix the muffler but hey I am not a wielder or anything close to that so I will have to have one of my mechanic friends do it for me. I can do a regular tune up on the van but even that would be a chore.
I don’t even want to begin to think about how much fixing the cat back is going to cost me, I already know that the tie rods and right hub center need to be replace and that is looking at close to 300 or maybe 400 depending on how many problems there are for the mechanic to do.

Winters hanging around to long

There is more bad weather on the way. I am not looking forward to driving in it tomorrow. If it gets bad I might decide to stay home, and not meet hubby and just wait till he gets home. Bad weather and buss equal no fun at all. Most drivers in MN forget how to drive during the winter, and normally takes me 4 times longer to get from point a to point b. Tomorrow my interview is about 8 miles away from home that should take me a maxim of 20 minutes, should be simple if we don’t have sleet filled roads.
I think spring went into
drug rehab it is really having a hard time coming around this year. Like spring has decided to hide away and not show it self for a long time. I love Spring, summer and fall. Winter it stuck around a little to longer, when it first starts I like it. It pretty to have snow all over but it does get old. I used to love it before I had to drive in it and understood what it meant to drive in it.
When I took Driver ed in High School I did it in the middle of winter, it was not a fun experience learning how to drive in the snow but I know how to drive in the snow now. It something you never forget when your first driving is in snow.

An other day of Boredom

I am so bored, I have read through all my books, and played way to much video games. I have just about wrote down ever single word I have to remember for Hebrew class, on Saturday. I been bad at studying and I know the only way to catch up with class is by actually studying, but my husband doesn’t like learning language he claims he not good at it.
Otis lately has been pushing his limits being naughty and clawing on everything he aught not. He will come up to me and then run away expecting me to chase him around the house. Normally he will not go up on my counter unless he going to jump into his little perch over the freg. It was his favorite place when my husband first moved in, he used to act like he was going to jump on my hubby. I am not sure how but he has opened my office door, which I don’t ant him there because I decided I to put our fishing stuff in there and it safer for Otis not to be in the office.
Otis is probably noticing I am home a lot more so he probably acting like a kid and testing his limits. The last week almost I been up until well after 2am chatting to an online friend. Thank goodness I have a job interview tomorrow.
Today I spent a good portion of the day finishing the apartment, I just have to vacuum the apartment, and I even managed to get my taxes done today. Not happy about filing taxes and finding out I owe the Feds money just lovely. I would much rather spend that money on a few good books, so I have something to do other then play video games.
Maybe I will try, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose . There has been a lot of talk about it. Normally when I hear a lot of opinions positive or negative I like reading the book and seeing what I think. Right now I have no opinion other then it may not be my normal choice of books, I normally like reading young adult or suspense as long as there no cussing ever other word. I am sure that this book should be safe with language and might be a little encouraging. Tomorrow I do have a interview so I have to be good tonight and get some sleep, and try to prepare for Passover dinner with some friends on Sunday, we are doing a demonstration for a few of our friends, and I am responsible for teaching something.
The only thing I haven’t done is play my guitar maybe I should do that and create a song about boredom.

Just pass me by not run me down

Today my husband let me use his car, it a little cold out and my heater in the van broke. Getting to my assignment was no problem other then finding where to park. Something nice did happen today, I had turned down the street on the side of the building thinking the parking lot would be near.
I had to turn back around by the time I got back to my road there were two school buss. I am a cautious driver, and wait normally for everyone. I stopped at the stop sign, and then I inched the car closer to the intersection. I was waiting for the buss to go who had the right away but she never went instead she flagged me to go ahead. This doesn’t happen often in the cities usually no one wants to let you go first expecially when they have the right away.
Tonight on my way home, I found out very quickly that the frontage road did not go all the way through. Oh well at least I was able to get on a hwy right away and back to where I needed to be. Well I got to my turn on my little parking lot inlet and some lady decided she had to try to be in the same place as me. It just amazes me how people can be so rude, and not wait their turn. I was there first, at least I was able to aviod her hitting me. I felt like screaming at her Just Pass Me By and Not run me Down.
Maybe she had a little to much to drink since it is a holiday, and if that the case since it was only 530ish maybe she needs some alcohol rehab
